Computer & Electronics Recycling
Computers and electronics may contain hazardous waste elements such as lead solder, mercury, cadmium and beryllium. Monitors and CRT's may have anywhere from 4-8 pounds of lead. These types of equipment need to be recycled properly in an environmentally sound manner.
What happens to my equipment when it is recycled? All hard drives are either sanitized or destroyed. About 90% of the equipment is disassembled (demanufactured) and recycled on a materials basis.
